Marion County, located in the great state of Kentucky, was established on January 25, 1834, and named after General Francis Marion, a Revolutionary War hero known as the "Swamp Fox." The county's land originally belonged to the regions of Washington County and Adair County. Lebanon, the county seat, was founded in 1815 and is known for its gorgeous historic downtown district.

In the early days, Marion County was primarily an agricultural area, benefiting from good soil for farming and ample water access. The main crops produced in the region have included tobacco, corn, and livestock such as pigs and cattle. Agriculture continues to be a vital part of the economy in Marion County to this day.

One fun fact about Marion County is that it is part of Kentucky's famous "Bourbon Country." Maker's Mark, one of the most well-known Bourbon distilleries, is located in Loretto, a city within the county. The iconic distillery was established in 1953 and has since become a popular tourist attraction as part of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Tourists from all over the world visit this historic site to learn about bourbon production and indulge in tastings.
