Amy is a Haywood County native whose family has been in Western North Carolina prior to the Civil War. Amy has lived in Valle Crusis, NC, Panama City Beach and Vero Beach, Florida, but always came home to the mountains. She attended Western Carolina University, graduating with honors in 1997. After college, Amy worked as the 30th Judicial District Supervisor for Project Challenge, North Carolina, an organization dedicated to helping adjudicated youth become productive members of their community through volunteer service. Amy also was a Program Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNC.

Real estate was always of great interest to Amy and she knew the day would come when she would make a career change to become a full time Realtor. That change occurred in 2004, and she has been very pleased with the challenges and opportunities that being a Realtor provides. Being a Realtor is not so different than the human service work I did previously. It is still a helping profession, listening to others wants and needs and facilitating the process that allows them to buy or sell their home or land. I get a great deal of satisfaction assisting others in attaining their dreams."

Amy was married in 2002 and she and her husband Tarver enjoy the outdoors through activities such as camping, skiing and rock climbing. Amy has a special love of mountain and traditional music and dance. She is fortunate to have the friendship of many local musicians and takes every opportunity to attend their performances and jam sessions. She is a co-founder of PlottFest, a benefit fundraiser for Head Start.

Amy enjoys giving back to her community through volunteer service and is active with numerous service organizations through the Haywood County Volunteer Center, the Board of Realtors. Amy and Tarver welcomed a son, Henry, in September of 2009. They live on a working mini farm in the Fines Creek community.
