Nash County is a county located in the great state of North Carolina, USA. Established in 1777, it was formed from the larger Edgecombe County during the early years of the United States. Named in honor of General Francis Nash, an American Revolutionary War hero, the county has a profound historical significance. General Nash played a key role in the Battle of Germantown and was widely admired for his bravery.

The county seat of Nash County is Nashville, which was established in 1780 and officially incorporated in 1815. Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, Nash County was primarily an agricultural community, known for the cultivation of tobacco and cotton. The area saw significant growth after the installation of the Wilmington and Weldon Railroad in the 1840s, which aided in the transportation of goods and increased commerce.

In the 20th century, Nash County witnessed further economic development through the establishment of manufacturing units, particularly in textiles, as well as the growth of various service industries. The county's population continued to expand over the years and is now home to over 90,000 residents.
