Rowan County, North Carolina
.Rowan County, located in the great state of North Carolina, was established in 1753 and named in honor of Matthew Rowan, who served as acting Governor of North Carolina from 1753 to 1754. The county was originally part of Anson County and is situated in the central part of the state.
Salisbury, the county seat, was founded in 1755 and quickly became a prominent center for trade and governance in the region. Rowan County played a significant role during the American Revolutionary War, as it was the site of the Battle of Camden in 1780, where local militia fought against British troops.
