Burlington County is located in the great state of New Jersey, USA, and is part of the Delaware Valley area. It was established in 1694, making it one of the oldest counties in the state. Burlington County originally included portions of what are now Atlantic, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Ocean counties, but over time those areas were split off into separate counties.

During the American Revolutionary War, several significant battles took place in this region, such as the Battle of Iron Works Hill in Mount Holly in 1776. The county also played a prominent role in the Underground Railroad, with multiple safe houses and stations located throughout the area to help enslaved Africans escape to freedom.

One of the most notable figures from Burlington County is the famous Quaker minister, poet, and abolitionist, John Woolman (1720-1772), who was a prominent anti-slavery activist and an influential figure in the early Society of Friends. Woolman's writings and messages to the Quaker community contributed to the eventual decision by American Quakers to disown slaveholders in 1776.

A fun fact about Burlington County is that it is home to the historic Smithville Park, which was once a thriving industrial town with its roots in the 19th century. Today, the park features the remains of the industrial village, some preserved historic homes, and a beautiful butterfly garden for visitors to enjoy.
