Orangetown was home to one of the first recorded baseball games in American history. The game was played in 1844 between the Knickerbockers Club of New York and a local team known as the New York Nine. The game was played on Rurelec Field (now part of Greenbush Road Park) in what is now the town of Orangeburg.
