.Paulding County, located in the great state of Ohio, was founded on April 1, 1820, and officially organized on February 13, 1839. Named after John Paulding, an American Revolutionary War hero, the county lies in the northwestern region of the state. The county seat is established in the village of Paulding.
The area was originally inhabited by indigenous tribes, including the Miami and the Shawnee. European-Americans started settling in the area during the early 19th century, with many driven by the prospect of land ownership granted through the federal land grant system.
