Scranton is a small village with a population of around 800 people and is located about 10 miles northwest of Lake City, South Carolina. It was founded in the early 20th century and was originally a hub for tobacco farming. Today, Scranton serves as a primarily residential community, and there are several churches, schools and community centers located in and around the village. The town also hosts an annual fall festival that draws visitors from all over the region.
