1. Fircrest, Washington was established in 1925 as a planned community. It was the first planned community in the state of Washington and was developed by the Tacoma Real Estate Company.

2. The town is noted for its unique roundabouts, which are the only roundabouts in Pierce County and draw visitors from all over the area.

3. Fircrest is also home to the Fircrest Golf Course, which opened in 1929 and is one of the oldest golf courses in the Pacific Northwest.

4. A historical anecdote from Fircrest is that in 1965, a group of local citizens held a "tree-sitting" protest against a proposed freeway through their town, which ultimately lead to the freeway being re-routed away from Fircrest.
