.Stokes County is located in the northern part of North Carolina and was formed in 1789 from Surry County. Named after John Stokes, a captain in the American Revolutionary War, the county is steeped in historical significance.
During the Revolutionary War, the area was home to many skirmishes between the Tories and Patriots. One fun fact about this region of the USA is that it is home to the unique Hanging Rock State Park.
