1. The Kittitas Valley was originally home to the Kittitas people, a Native American tribe, who were part of the Upper Yakama Nation.

2. The first permanent settlement in Kittitas County was established in 1853.

3. The village of Kittitas was founded in 1879 by early settlers from nearby Ellensburg.
