Oak Harbor, Washington was named after a large oak tree that stood near the harbor entrance at the turn of the century. In 1906, the city was officially incorporated. It is located on Whidbey Island, which is part of the Puget Sound. It is known for its views of Mount Baker, historic marine life and popular hiking trails. The area is also home to several Native American tribes, including the Swinomish and Samish people.
