1. Shadow Lake, Washington was first settled in 1861 by a group of pioneer homesteaders who established the village as a logging and fishing center.

2. In the early 1900s, Shadow Lake served as an important stop on the Great Northern Railway, and provided transportation for miners and loggers in the area.

3. In 1948, the historic Shadow Lake Inn was built, and it still stands today as one of the oldest buildings in the village.

4. The lake itself was created in 1909 when a dam was built to provide hydroelectric power for the growing village.
