1. West Richland is home to the world's largest collection of preserved B-17 bombers. The Bomber Museum, located in West Richland, houses more than 25 restored B-17s from all over the world.

2. On April 5, 1969, West Richland was the site of the first atomic bomb test in the United States. The test, named Operation Checkmate, was conducted by the Atomic Energy Commission and the Department of Defense.

3. The Hanford Nuclear Site, located near West Richland, is one of the largest nuclear production facilities in the world. From 1943 to 1987, the site produced plutonium for nuclear warheads, including those used in World War II and later during the Cold War.

4. The city of West Richland is also home to a community park known as Clover Island. It was built in 1962 and is a popular spot for swimming, fishing and picnicking.

5. In 2008, West Richland became the first city in Washington State to ban smoking in all public places and workplaces.
