A fun fact about Arizona City is that it was originally designed in the 1960s as a planned community with a "futuristic" theme. The original plan included a space-age "gateway" entrance, futuristic street names, and even a plan for hovercraft public transportation. However, due to funding and logistical issues, many of these plans were never realized. Today, only a few streets with original futuristic names remain, such as Apollo Road and Cosmos Way.
