One fun and verifiable fact about the village of Trail, Oregon is that it is the birthplace of the legendary baseball player, Dutch Zwilling. He was born in Trail in 1888 and went on to play professional baseball for several teams, including the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Giants. Additionally, Zwilling is credited with inventing the "fantom catch", a dive-and-roll catch that became a signature move for outfielders in the early 20th century.
