Bainbridge is a village located in the northeastern part of Chenango County. The area was first settled in the late 18th century and was named after Commodore William Bainbridge, who served in the United States Navy during the War of 1812. Today, the village is home to several historical landmarks, including the old Chenango Canal and the nearby Steam Sawmill Hill, which was once home to several sawmills powered by steam engines.
