Tappan is a small hamlet located in the town of Orangetown in Rockland County, New York. It is situated on the west bank of the Hudson River, approximately 25 miles north of New York City. The population of Tappan is around 6,000 people.

Tappan has a rich history and was an important location during the American Revolution. It was the site of the "Great Chain" that spanned the Hudson River and helped to prevent the British Navy from sailing up the river.

Today, Tappan is a residential community with a charming downtown area filled with shops, restaurants, and historic sites. Some popular attractions in Tappan include the Tappan Library, the Old 76 House (one of the oldest taverns in the United States), and the Jacob Blauvelt House (a historic home and museum). The town is also home to several parks and outdoor recreational areas, such as the Kings Highway Field and the Clausland Mountain Park.
