3. In 1973, the Modesto International Arch was built as part of a community effort to welcome visitors to the city. It has become a famous landmark and symbol of Modesto.

As for the historical event, on December 10, 1907, a famous train robbery took place near Modesto. The robbery was committed by three men known as the DeAutremont brothers, who attempted to rob a Southern Pacific express train. However, the robbery went wrong and resulted in the deaths of four people, including the train's engineer and fireman. The DeAutremont brothers were eventually caught and sentenced to life in prison.
