Waynetown is a small village with a population of around 951 people (as of the 2010 census). The village was named in honor of Revolutionary War hero General Anthony Wayne. The community has a rich history, with several notable buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, such as the Waynetown Masonic Lodge and the Waynetown Rural High School Gymnasium. The village also hosts an annual Wayne County Fair, which features carnival rides, live music, and a variety of food vendors. Additionally, nature enthusiasts can enjoy scenic hiking trails and fishing opportunities at the nearby Sugar Creek.
